Andros Island/Belize Ecology/Cultural Exchange Trips for CHS students (Contact Amy Gerber): CHS science teacher, Amy Gerber sponsors a trip to either Andros Field Studies or Belize each year. Students interact interculturally and enjoy a hands-on learning environment with a different ecological system than they experience in Wyoming. BBCOW Plains Indian Museum: This state of the art museum offers many educational resources for classrooms and families. They have standard programs and will design workshops specifically to meet your needs. Having experienced both their standard programs and programs they have designed for me, I can attest to the quality of their programs. Crow Agency: North of Cody this agency offers guided tours of the Little Big Horn from the native perspective and other opportunities to explore cultural perspectives that are close to home. My daughter experienced a tour guided by Pat Hill who owns Center of the Circle. She (and her entire class agreed) said it was the most amazing history lecture she had ever heard and that she will always regard land differently because of this experience. Dano Camp: This organization sponsored at least three backpacking trips each summer for teens. The experience promotes building global competence by putting students in a diverse living environment and encouraging flexibility and collaboration. Heart Mountain Foundation: This foundation has worked to preserve the site of the Heart Mountain Interment Camp where Japanese citizens were interned during WWII. Beside their permanent exhibits, they host temporary exhibits dealing with intercultural issues in our nation. A recent Arab exhibit was remarkable. There are plenty of international activities representing a variety of especially European cultures. The vendors/presenters at this festival often have business cards and will provide classroom experiences. Teton County Model UN: Jackson High School hosts a two day Model UN each November. They are extremely supportive of new participants and assist at every level of learning how to participate in the Model UN. CHS has taken a team for the past two years. WY Chapter of the Nature Conservatory: This organization is not only involved in protecting nature but is also involved in restoring land to native people for sacred use and melding the land values of the Native Americans with environmental concerns today.
